From its spot on the workbench, it watched everything unfold. It saw beautiful cheese boards being shaped and smoothed. It saw proud cheeses arriving – brie with its soft confidence, cheddar with its bold personality, and gouda, who always seemed to know it was the most popular one in the room.
But then came the cutting. Knives would charge in, heavy-handed and hurried. Slices went crooked. Edges crumbled. Perfectly good wedges were mangled by good intentions and a little too much enthusiasm.
